Inside Malta’s stunning new art gallery in Valletta
Malta’s capital city has been showing off its cultural side with the opening of its flagship national arts museum.
The €10 million Muza centre is a legacy of Valletta’s reign as European Capital of Culture.
The state-of-the-art interactive gallery is based inside the 15th-century Auberge d’Italie in Merchant Street, once home to the Knights of St John.
It houses the art collection of Malta’s former national gallery plus hundreds of new acquisitions and commissions.
World-class pieces have also be loaned from museums in London, Edinburgh, Florence and Rome.
Muza offers a unique experience.
You can explore the extensive collections on display inspired by a careful selection of stories presented in four main sections.
The historic architecture, purposely restored to house this new museum concept, is an experience in its own right.
Muza is open every day from 9am to 5pm in Merchants Street, Valletta.
