Malta crowned world’s best scuba diving spot
Malta’s clear blue Mediterranean sea has been named the world’s best place for scuba diving.
The island was crowned the world’s best scuba diving destination by Taucher.net.
The largest German speaking online portal for divers presented the award to the Maltese Islands as its tourism destination of the year.
The award was presented at Germany’s biggest water sports event in Dusseldorf.
The judges said Malta was chosen since ‘the Maltese Islands cater for all aspects within the scuba diving community, with Malta playing an exciting, positive and pioneering role worldwide in relation to diving sports’.
Why is Malta an ideal place for scuba diving?
The sea around Malta and Gozo offers unique experiences with an abundance of reefs, caves and wrecks that make diving here interesting, thrilling and exciting.
The calmness and clarity of the water makes for excellent visibility while the risk of encountering dangerous fish is extremely low, creating the ultimate conditions for first time divers and beginners.
Visibility is excellent down to around 30 metres. So Malta is a dream destination for underwater photography.
